    "West Roxbury —

Boston Police are investigating a string of West Roxbury robberies that included a World War II veteran having his Purple Heart medal stolen from his Edgemere Road home on Oct. 19.

Three robberies occurred on Oct. 19. The first one happened between 8:45 and 10:15 a.m. at a Woodley Avenue residence. A rear window was broken into and various items were stolen including gold jewelry. A witness allegedly saw three suspects coming out of the front door.

The second robbery occurred between 9:45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. on Desoto Road through the basement door. Computer equipment, jewelry and a video game system were stolen.

The third robbery occurred sometime during the day at an Edgemere Road residence, which is where the Purple Heart medal was stolen from. The suspects allegedly gained access by pushing in the air conditioner.
On Oct. 14, a Ridgecrest Terrace residence was burglarized."

Saw this on the news....terrible. I don't know what kind of person could steal a veteran's medal....if anyone, someone without a keen knowledge of history.
