Hi Guys, (and some girls...) Im saving up to buy a laptop, one thats not to big, but not so small....it has to be a reasonable price for the screen size, and the amount of memory it can hold. Ive got my eye on one, its a 15.6 Inch Toshiba, the price is $440.00, but, does anyone have any suggestions of laptops that may be better then this one? (price wise and memory wise) Walmart.com: Toshiba 15.6" C655D-S5043 Laptop PC with AMD V Series V120 Processor and Windows 7 Home Premium: Computers
Its not bad your choice! I use a Acer Aspire 6530G. Not the newest Generation but good. Toshibas has good ones but not a bargain. Regards Ulrich
the computer im currently using is an acer. its just a desktop computer, though. and this is the only computer in the house. thats part of why i want a laptop, my mom always wants to go on facebook and mess around with farmville and i always want to go on here and look here. and for school, so i can look up information that is useful.
Hahaha, my friend, you can be sure that this is a fact that won´t change if you´re getting older and having a family! Thats the reason why we have 2 PC´s. Regards Ulrich
Tell you from experience that the Toshiba is pretty good but the plug in where you put the charger in? Crap. We have had it replaced twice and it still breaks, with no type of force or anyone tripping over the cord.
I prefer the gaming lapstops but that's a good laptop only for web surfing tho don't expect much from it playing mw2.
im not much of a computer gaming person, not like, downloading games like GR: Desert Seige, but i like playing online games...but anyway i would just like a web-surfing one to research WWII and look up a bunch of differant crap
well hmm don't expect much, the Ram is low. Witch means your computer wont run as fast. No idea about the processer never seen it. I never buy from China Mart. Try B Buy ( Best Buy) but I see the processer is 2.2, witch it may be a quad witch is a + . I personally think you can find better laptops then this. I would go with Gateway's. Don't DO DELLS. I found the same type of computer once and it was the same and all, and just cause it had Dell on it, it was 200 dollars more, cause of the signature brand. I'd go with Gateway, or HP. I'll start looking around, whats your price range?
Ooo plz don't buy the by the new quad proccesers unless you are ready for high electric bill I don't know about laptops tho.
China Mart...lol anyway, my sister has Gateway, except i dont know the true cost of it because she had things added on for school, which all around, went over 1,000 dollars Price range? well, i was thinking 400, 500 dollars?
I just bought a Compaq Presario CQ62 laptop from Best Buy. 15.6" screen 2.10 gigahertz AMD Athlon II P320 Dual-Core processor 250GB HD 3.0 GB RAM CDDVDW 3 USB ports I paid $399 for it. The only thing it doesn't have is a card reader, but that's no big deal to me. I think the next level up has one, though.
I have a Gateway myself, which cost around $500 and it works pretty well. I bought it from Best Buy and so far, I have around $150 of software installed (Microsoft Office, Norton Antivirus). What you've found is good, too. To be honest, the best isn't what can do the most, but the most that can be gotten out of it. From what I know, some features of same size laptops have to be reduced to focus on one particular aspect. Pros and Cons of certain aspects of laptops Large disc space Pro: good for business, can have multiple programs installed, lots of space to easily store videos, music, and other personal files Con: more expensive or less battery life High preformance Pro: a fast processor is good for all kinds of work and play Con: higher price or less battery life Long battery life Pro: great for travel in terms of how long it can last in a long flight or in the airport gate, lengthy work or gaming sessions Con: higher price, less disk space Netbook Pro: cheap, compact, great for travel, long battery life, great for internet Con: less ports, less disk space These pros and cons are just what I think, but I have some gained some experience in getting my laptop. Personally, I would choose a laptop with a good balance of all aspects, where it can keep up with what I have to do, store what I have, and do it wherever, whenever, and for a long time. The path is laid out for you, so now what do you choose?
not sure what i choose...i think the one im setting sights on is the toshiba. it looks like the right one. thanks for all of the other examples, though
If you want something "hard core", then go for a desktop. Laptops will have cooling issues - they aren't designed for this type of thing, despite what the manufacturers say. Stick a 3.0 gHz processor in a plastic body that has one cooling fan and a vent, and it won't end well. Most laptops max out at a 500 or 320 gb hard drive as well, and you can't add more in when needed. You can't leave most laptops on for more than a day (which is fine for "standard" use) without creating a lot of heat (which is bad for the unit), whereas a computer can stay on indefinitely because it is designed as such. I believe the longest I've had my desktop on is about 2 months straight. Use a laptop if you want/need something portable. If not, go with a desktop. A good desktop can be bought at the same price as an average laptop. You will get more value for your money with the desktop, and you always have the option of upgrading it. That being said, there is nothing wrong with a laptop - just know its limitations. Good luck with the search Radar - and Toshiba is a good company. I have had two of their ultra-portable business models and one "standard" model without much trouble! Keep in mind these are just my opinions. I'm sure whatever laptop you choose will be decent.
