These brutal pictures were created by a Polish Jew - Artur Szyk, one of the greatest illuminators and illustrators of the 20th century. He was a volunteer in the Polish-Soviet war, worked in the Department of Propaganda, then fought as a cavalry officer. After the WW2 started he emigrated to the US - with the help of the Polish Government, hopping to influence public opinion there. He became popular almost immediately, his works appeared on the cover of Time, Colliers and other popular magazines. Eleanor Roosevelt called him "one man army", FDR "soldier in art." And he still didn't hold back his anger. Perl Harbor
That last painting is true. Hitler wanted to stop the influence of the international Jews in banking, politics, the arts, etc., and lead the world, with the Americans and British subordinate to him, changing the status quo to German hegemony instead of democracy and freedom of nations.
Although the last (pre-Pearl Harbor) painting shows the fate awaiting Uncle Sam if he still be passive in the face of the Nazi threat. It really has nothing to do with the Jews.
What doesn't happen often? Seeing a cowboy cartoon or seeing an Artur Szyk cartoon? Should be about time for the second pot by now.
The IV is clogged. I meant "Seeing a cartoon related to Pearl Harbor I haven't already seen." Olive branch in front, dagger behind, good imagery.
Oh yes, makes much sense now. After all, you're the Pearl Harbor specialist around here. I do agree with you about the good imagery. Couldn't be any more accurate if he tried.
Would have been lovely to have when I was helping teach WWII at Purdue. I was in charge of finding the images, especially the faces. Marshall Cavendish was endlessly helpful.

Szyk became famous thanks to his Statue of Kalisz - a medieval-style 45-page manuscript presenting history of the Polish Jews. It began in 1264 when the real Statute of Kalisz, a Jewish Magna Carta, granted the Jews vast rights in Poland - placing them above the bourgeoisie, under King's protection and criminal jurisdiction, forbade blood libel under the pain of death, set the maximum allowable interest rate at 108% per year. They became a natural ally of the nobles, against the despised, mostly German bourgeoisie. The statute was the rule of the land for the next half-millennium till the partition of Poland. Pictures in the manuscript were small, no larger than a hand in width, but extremely detailed and colorful. You really need a magnify glass to see them in all their glory. It took him two years to create all 45 pages. In the thirties, with the support of the Polish Government, numerous exhibitions presenting the pictures were organized in Poland. According to the contemporary press they were very popular - those people must have had much better eyesight than today. 1264 - the statue is granted. The Jews as kingdom's moneyers and bankers. Jewish craftsmen. Jewish traders and exporters in Polish Danzig, Danzig was the gate to Poland. Polish kings' doctors - but not here, those were sent by the famous Roxelana - the wife of Sultan Süleyman the Magnificent to the dying Polish queen Barbara Radziwiłł. But they were Jews too.
