All: I'm sad to post that Keith, "KodiakBeer", passed away on November 19 after a battle with lung cancer. He hadn't been active on the forum for several years but older members will remember him from the forum's heyday of 2010-2020 or so. Keith's father served in the 30th Infantry Division (D Company, 1st Battalion, 117th Infantry Regiment) and fought at Mortain, France and Stavelot, Belgium among others. Keith served in the USCG for many years and enjoyed talking about his experiences, especially those occurring in the Bering Sea. After retiring from the USCG Keith lived in Alaska where he survived a bear attack (and wrote a book about it - "A Kodiak Bear Mauling") before moving to Arizona. Keith and myself became close over the past 10+ years and spoke almost daily about mutual interests including WW2, firearms, and history in general. His friendship, warm conversations, and unique insights on every diverse and eclectic topic imaginable (such as travelling to the USSR while in the USCG, and living in the back valleys of Arizona) will be greatly missed. Alan
Sad news indeed - Always enjoyed his posts. Another rogue gone to the ranks on the other side. SALUTE! Thanks for letting the forum know.
