I know he received 4 bronze stars, but for what i don't know. His letters are fairly vague due to censorship. Anyone know how I can fill in the gaps, daily activity stuff. Any idea on how to find out what the bronze stars were for? Would a AAA batalion file an AAR or something similiar to an AAR? And if so, do you have any idea on how to go about getting copies. Any help would be appreciated Larry
Contact the NARA, College Park. I am very confident it has records of the 409th AAA, i.e., Unit Histories. The cost will be $0.75 per page. The Bronze Stars may have been issued by the parent organization, the unit to which the 409th was attached. Do you have his DD 214, by the way? http://ww2f.com/western-europe-1943-1945/33312-409th-aaa-battalion.html Dave
Dave, Thanks for the info, the link you gave me was from Aug of last year. Is the thread still active? How do I contact Jtay? His dad was in Btry D, mine was in Btry B. Looking through my dad's letters, on Oct 3, 1944 Btry B lost a baseball game to Btry D, I wonder if they played against each other. Thanks in advance for the help, I'm new to all this. Larry
