Nice to know such sites exsist. Definitely a very informative forum! I've always had interest in the wars. Whether it was the massacres of Mongolian ruler Genghis Khan or our present "Gulf War". However WWII and Vietnam are of greater interest! I'm not a "collector" but I have acquired a few things that were stumbled upon. My most cherished was the first piece... and it wasn't until years later I realized the significance of the old hunting rifle my paw-paw gave me for my 12th b-day. At the time it was a rifle I'd always known to be in his gun cabinet and had even seen him clean from time to time. One might say I was always drawn to the rifle constantly askin to shoot it. Never understood why it was the only gun we weren't allowed to shoot. I couldn't begin to express my excitement or how proud I felt. It was crazy.. the M1917 (American Enfield)accuracy was something else...I'd been hunting for several years prior and only had ever used a .410 slug or 00-buckshot. I don't ever recall missing a shot.. I used to joke "I can knock a bumblebee off a sunflower at 400yds in a dead sprint" what a rifle it was! Unfortunately it was stolen some years ago! Anyhow my apologies for the reminiscing. Ive been looking for some info on a WWII helmet I picked up years ago. It belonged to a 1st lieutenant it seems. Years ago I had contacted someone (dealer) looking for info and was more less told it was fake but it was a good fake and offered $50. I look forward too speaking with some/anyone. Thank you who've made this wealth of knowledge available.. thank you for sharing! Most importantly to all those who've served.... THANK YOU!!
Welcome to the Forums! Even though the Mauser-action rifles are more than 100 years old, they are still some of the greatest and most reliable rifles today.
