Wishful thinking that this might be a result of the recent terror attacks and the release of the redacted 28 KSA pages.
Stick an army boot in their door. Then a leg...
Maybe this is us, finally fighting back...do something for gods sake.

Watched a food show on Vice- Huangs World- where he went to Turkey. He had a very hard time finding pork in areas that (recently) used to produce fine pork sausage/meats. People there were lamenting how the gov was implementing archaic religious law.
Turkey is going backwards. Hopefully this coup will turn the tide and allow some more freedom to its' people.

The Prime Minister has been in office over 10 years and has been leaning toward an Islamic influenced government ever since. Modern Turkey is more secular and democratic. The coup leaders are saying they want to keep it that way. I too, hope it does not break out into a religious -civil war. One of the major bridges over the Bosporus was lit up in France's national colors for Bastille day.
Turkey has an extremely powerful military for the area and strong on any stage.

Our CBC is showing some footage of the typical male crowd chanting akbar and being typical.
Said Erdogan implored residents to take to the streets and suppress the coup.
    Erdogan just showed his hand.

I just got an email from a former student in Istanbul. She says the news is worst than the action, imagine that, all is pretty quite but the military is out in larger numbers than usual. Erdogan is broadcasting from a hidden location.

A Canadian there says she had never heard jets fly over her neighborhood until today. Also a report of a helicopter shot down.
The akbar boys were apparently on some important bridge...

It looks like things are heating up . Did not stay wordy long. Obama is backing the government, he may regret that.

Erdogan is back. Military is split. Over 100 low level officers have been arrested. 42 dead. The leaders of the coup have nothing to lose and fight till the end as they are all aware of what will happen to them once they are caught...

"Our country can not be governed from Pennsylvania" - Erdogan. Quite a statement.

Depends if it's true or not. Erdogan has been cracking down on those loyal to Gulen for some time now. Hard to say if it was at the behest of Gulen or a last desperate measure taken by his loyalists.

NATO Incirlik base in Turkey has been banned (for the time being at least). Electricity to the base blocked, airspace closed and no one is allowed into or out of the base....

That he has... An indicator may be someone being replaced within the CIA in the near future. We shall see.

Reported now as being open again. No mention about power being restored.

Secretary Kerry issued a stern warning against insinuating that the US had anything to do with this....
