I saw "The Bridge" (Das Bruhne) many years ago...sort of a WWII miniature All Quite on the Western Front", but with even younger men (really boys) who are made to defend their village. Das Boot is a very good movie...it depicts the hard realities of war ..there's always a dark cloudy storm right behind that silver lining!
Not quiet a movie but Die Willhem Gustloff (Ship of No Return: The Last Voyage of the Willhem Gustloff) is an interesting, if not exactly historically accurate - German TV movie about the sinking of the refugee ship.
I'd love to see this one. One wonders if we'll ever get it over here? I also want to see the remake of Der Teufels General.
